What we call ‘Tenerife South’ is not exactly the geographical South. Due to the diagonal mountains that splits Tenerife in two halves, the clouds usually cannot go through, providing two very different micro climates. Tenerife South refers then to the sunny part, where temperatures are much higher.
Palm Mar is a new residential area in a tranquil bay, surrounded by the Montana de Guaza on one side (which separates it from the neighbouring town of Los Cristianos) and the Nature Reserve Malpaís de La Rasca on the other. Although this area is relatively close to Tenerife South airport, Palm-Mar is known for its tranquillity.

View from Candelaria city. This city is placed in the North of the island, however here is warmer than other Southern parts of the island. This is due to its position to the South of the central mountains that cut Tenerife in two halves and do not let the clouds go through. That’s why the cities in the South side of these mountains are considered as a ‘Tenerife South’ city by locals.
